I misread your thing on the generation. Okay, if we mean Adama's generation, male and not Cain and one episode only (which rules out Colonel Tigh) that means we're left with:

A Council member.
Or Commander Kronus.

And I know why I missed that even though "Man With Nine Lives" is one of the adapted episodes. That scene in question was one of a few that were written by fanfic-list moderator Sanna so that meant I never absorbed it as I did the rest of the episode.
