My mother has been in the hospital for the past week and today her situation became worse. She is now facing surgery tonight that she could conceivably not survive.
Prayers and support are most needed right now.

Eric,
I'm so sorry to hear that. We'll be praying for you. Please keep us updated.
When my father died completely unexpectedly, it was terrible. You think you have the world figured out, and then you suddenly start over without someone who is a major part of your life.

Thanks, all the support and prayers have been appreciated. She pulled through the surgery okay and has passed the first hurdle, but there's a lot ahead of us, and complete recovery would require months of hospitalization. We just have to pray there are no more complications.
I've received a lot of wonderful feedback and support from many message boards I belong to, and its a nice reminder of the good friendships these communities have created. |

My mother finally comes home for the first time since November tomorrow, though she still has a drainage tube in her and the recovery is by no means complete (she will really be convalescing at home now), but this is a major step forward and considering where things were three and a half long months ago a time for me to give thanks to God big time. |

Yes, good news - a definite step forward.
Positive waves, Eric. Positive waves.

She's been doing fine at home, but she now faces new surgery on June 12, to try and stop the draining she still has that requires her to keep wearing a drainage tube. Apparently, when she was operated on in November to remove the damaged part of her pancreas, a separate part of it healed by itself and has been draining in the wrong direction since, and so that small healed part has to be removed.
She'll need a couple weeks of recuperation minimum after this surgery, but we're not facing the grave situation it was earlier. All the prayers and support we've been given these last few months, combined with her immeasurably good health that she was in before this happened, has gone a long way for us.
Thanks again to everyone for their support and concern. |

How ironic. The healed part is the one that has to be removed. _________________ "The dull mind rises to Truth through that which is material." -Suger

Well to clarify, there's the main part of her pancreas that healed and which still functions, and then there's this tiny separate part of healed pancreas that's causing the drainage problem that needs to be removed. So in effect this operation that removed the dead, infected part of the pancreas left her with one large part that was healthy (reduced) and this tiny healthy part separated from the bigger part. |
