How do you see him? He mentions, in LPOTG, that his medallion is "the symbol of my power". What precisely does he mean, and what is Adama really? _________________ "The dull mind rises to Truth through that which is material." -Suger

Also, I recall Baltar asking Adama to "use your powers" to get them out of the tomb in LPOTG. But his "powers" were never really elaborated upon. His powers were almost mystical in that sense. I suppose I see those powers personified in his character. His inner strength and resolve, his faith and determination, his innate sense of knowing right from wrong, and his firm belief that he is leading his people on the right path. It would take a man of those qualities to "sell" the difficult journey to his people. Especially since it's essentially his faith in the Book of the Word that has put him on this path.
Then again, if life as you knew it ceased to exist, you would want a man leading your people who had that apparent unwavering belief in his plan of action. And the fact that he's the military Commander of the only (known) surviving Battlestar would be a stellar commendation on the ole resume.
It would be interesting to see how Adama would be perceived, say a couple hundred yahrens down the 'flight path'. But obviously that would depend on what ultimately happened with their people. Adama--Bureautician, Military Leader, and on another level, perhaps even a prophet. Perhaps that's the essence of his mystical powers. |
