Anne's S3 Happy Days guest shot came out on DVD this past week, and on the horizon a 1982 appearance on the short-lived "Tales Of The Gold Monkey" should be out in 2008 as Universal wants to release this series to coincide with the next Indiana Jones film.

There are indications that both Season 3 and Season 4 of "The Incredible Hulk" will be released on DVD in June to coincide with the release of the new movie, and that means two more appearances of Anne will be available on DVD!

"Captive Night" is the S3 appearance and now I realize I erred in that her second appearance was "The Phenom" the debut episode of the short-lived S5 (which they are still planning to release around October).

Yeah, many of her appearances are represented on DVD now, though the key ones for me that remain unreleased (officially) are the two "Pogo Lil" guest shots on "BJ And The Bear". (not a likely series to get released alas).

Incredible Hulk S3 was released on schedule. It turned out the rumors on "Tales Of The Gold Monkey" never came to pass.

The chances of some of Anne's more obscure shows making it to DVD, even by the licensing route to another company, got dealt something of a blow with the fire at Universal a couple weeks ago that destroyed many master tapes of TV shows that they use for potential DVD release. So unfortunately I wouldn't count on seeing her "BJ And The Bear" apperances (my favorite non-Galactica role of hers) anytime soon on legit DVD.

Surely, the studios have back-up archives? Not just for TV shows, but for everything?

It likely varies depending on the show. The original film negatives are unaffected but Universal never spends the money taking the originals out of the vault to do new transfers for DVD because of the costs that involves (Galactica was actually the only exception to that rule I know of for a vintage title). The transfers done off the negatives for general cable TV airings back in the early 90s are what they use and those were the things that went up in flames. It's likely that many popular titles that still get cable exposure have a number of back-ups out there, but a show that's been out of circulation for the most part for years like "BJ And The Bear" I'm less inclined to think has an available set of backups that an independent company could make use of for a DVD release in a license deal.

At any rate, the fire was a bad thing as far as the future of lesser Universal titles on DVD go, and I just hope it didn't foul-up the earlier announced planned release of S2 of "Adam-12" on DVD by an independent label.

Perhaps this will spur a change of policy? Might be nice.

Well, I read the other day that Universal is working to replace the lost transfers from the fire, but whether that means some shows will get redone from the negatives is hard to say. Certainly they'd be more inclined to look for backup transfers that were elsewhere first, and save money that way.

I still need to watch Anne's "Fall Guy" and "Voyagers" appearances that I have!

Well, they'll probably go with whatever's cheaper. As usual.
