Think back to how Apollo and Serina also had a conversation on Kobol where she was speaking about faith, and the "you've convinced me" later was referring to that conversation they'd shared before. |

Ah . . . I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip. I vaguely recalled Apollo almost critisizing Adama for his fervent beliefs at one point, but couldn't remember if that was in a book or in the series. That's not part of the same scene, is it? |

No, it was earlier on. He also, while orbiting Carillon, says "my ideals risa and fall with your standards", implying he takes alot of his moral/theological/social/ethical cues from Adama. _________________ "The dull mind rises to Truth through that which is material." -Suger

So, back to your theory on Serina's death impacting Apollo to make him fall back more on his spiritual upbringing, was it her death . . . or just knowing her? What do you think? |

A combination. I would imagine meeting Iblis reinforced alot of it. _________________ "The dull mind rises to Truth through that which is material." -Suger

I think it was Bill on the other list who mentioned it would be interesting to put together something on what the Book of the Word actually spouted, religion-wise. After all, so many possiblities. Then again, perhaps the beauty of the non-specific is that readers can transfer their own beliefs to somewhat mimic "the Book's" making it more palatable to more people. |

Well, it would no doubt contain a Creation story, since Adama refers more than once to "God". The "Exodus" from Kobol, as well as Kobollian history, as evinced by Apollo's mention to SB about the marriages of the Lords of Kobol. He also refers to "the ancient records", as regards Iblis' various guises throught the ages.
I'm sure lots of interesting stories were put in there. _________________ "The dull mind rises to Truth through that which is material." -Suger

It did appear to be a rather long read. |

All the same, I wonder if there's a pocket edition? The Slightly Less Wordy Book of the Word? |

Was the pocket edition usually found in the drawer of every Caprican motel room placed by the "Friends of the Lords" society founded by Sire Gideon? |

Most probably. Sounds like Sire Gideon was a cool dude. _________________ "The dull mind rises to Truth through that which is material." -Suger
